Environpest Fumigation
Environpest are highly experienced in the fumigation field, from
containers to ships and aircraft, to grain and perishable commodity fumigation,
and buildings for the West Indian drywood termite. Environpest
are Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) registered fumigators
and stakeholders.
Environpest have fumigated approximately 60 buildings for the Department of Primary Industries - Forestry for the control of the West Indian Drywood Termite Cryptotermes brevis. We have fumigated buildings in Central Business District Brisbane, Bundaberg, and Thursday Island. The gas used is methyl bromide, which is odourless, colourless, tasteless, and fatal. An ozone depleting substance, it is still used from a quarantine pest perspective, and it's use is being heavily restricted.
Environpest have designed and built fruit fumigation chambers that have significantly increased the shelf life of perishable commodities, such as imported USA citrus. By establishing air flows that distribute the gas effectively, and ventilation methods that strip the gas quickly from the fumigation, all the AQIS requirements are met, and fruit with an acceptable shelf life is provided. Grain fumigation is another area of our expertise. We have designed and fumigation systems that embrace the technologies developed by the CSIRO. These systems produce insect free, residue free grain, with a 100% mortality of all stages of the target insects. If you have grain storage sites with a capacity greater than 3000 tonnes, we can provide cost effective solutions to both horizontal and vertical storages for a wide range of commodities.
Container fumigations are provided from both an import and export perspective.
