Environpest Termite Bait Boxes
We have developed the Environpest Termite Bait Boxes, which are great termite aggregation devices. Termites are drawn to the bait boxes, and once sufficient termites enter the boxes to allow dusting, the termites are dusted using Bayer Intrigue Termite Dust. The result is that the attacking termite nest is destroyed, which can take a significant amount of termite pressure off a structure.
The Environpest Termite Bait Boxes have been developed to be durable as well as effective. A large outer plastic box is placed in the soil with 2 (up to 2 metre long) 100mm aggi pipe wings. The baits are placed underground preferably in irrigated and mulched gardens separated at least a metre from the home. Another box containing the attractant timber is placed inside, and the bait box sealed. Suggested intervals for checking of the bait boxes is monthly.
Once sufficient termites have entered the boxes to allow dusting, the inner box is removed, and placed in another large box. All the termites are stripped from the baiting material, and dusted in yet another box. The bait material is replaced, and the termites returned to the bait box to return to their nest.
The dusted termites are groomed by the other termites in the nest, and ultimately, enough Intrigue passes to the Queen to kill her, and the colony will die. Bayer's research indicates that the termite nest stops feeding shortly after dusting. Success rates by dusting with Bayer Intrigue are high in comparison to Arsenic Trioxide, even with difficult to dust termites such as Schedorhinotermes spp., and is much safer.
The Environpest termite dusting technique is extremely effective, and like everything we do, is designed to achieve a positive result.
